What are hollow-tipped aerating forks used for?

Aerating forks are designed to aerate the lawn and ensure the penetration of moisture, nutrients and air into the compacted turf of the lawn. The forks are designed for front gardens of houses, smaller lawns, paths and places inaccessible for machine aerification. The recommended area is max. 100 – 200 m2 of lawn area.

What is hollow spike aeration?

Using aerating forks with hollow tips, you create holes in the turf. You then fill the holes in the turf with silica sand. This creates vertical cavities in the turf filled with sand through which water, nutrients and air can easily flow into the deeper layers of the turf. This strengthens the turf, its better-nourished root system and therefore makes it denser and more durable.

How much silica sand will I need for sandblasting after aeration?

It depends on how densely you pierce the lawn (how many holes you create) and also what diameter of the hollow spikes you choose. The sand consumption is approximately 0.5  -1.5 tons of sand per 100 m2.
