They excel in their water permeability, which makes them suitable for single-layer extensive compositions, where they effectively drain excess rainwater. However, thanks to their properties, they retain a certain amount of water, which provides plants with a reliable source even in dry periods without natural rain irrigation. 

In combination with substrate, they are used as the bottom layer of the vegetation layer.

Hydrophilic mineral wool is environmentally friendly and is produced by pulping volcanic rock melts and recycled materials, which ensures its ability to retain water, which is crucial for healthy plant growth.
